Gantz 304

Gantz is BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some fully colored goodness to make up for the 3 month hiatus.

Summary:
Out of in the streets on the TVs, the people of Japan watch in disbelief as New York is overrun by alien crafts and giant mechs while nukes explode in the background. The scene is so ridiculous that most people think it's a movie, and thus people try to continue their normal day to day lives. Kurono #1 is at school attending class, but in the middle of the class Kurono becomes worried and decides it's best to go grab Tae and leave.

Meanwhile, Kato runs into Nishi near a subway station. Nishi is excited about the impending battle while Kato is becoming more worried. Suddenly, a swarm of giant mechanical objects fall out of the sky and crash into the city, blowing out the windows in Kurono's school and causing widespread damage. One such metal object lands near Kato and Nishi's location, and to everyone's shock the object splits into two giant mechs.

You'd need a pretty big gun to take down those big boys.

Wow!!!! Was this chapter epic or what? Gantz is back with a vengeance! This chapter almost made the three month hiatus worth it. Almost. We are into the final phase of Gantz now, and this chapter is just the tip that iceberg. The giant mechs and flying ships look bigger, faster, and tougher than most of the enemies that the Tokyo team has faced thus far, and they are in need of a major equipment upgrade in order to properly take on these new enemies. Tokyo team's current equipment just look woefully inadequate right now. I think everyone needs at least something of the caliber of Oka's robot suit, but there probably needs to be a fast flying craft to counter the flying alien ships and also weapons to take out large armored targets. It should be a really sick and nasty battle coming up, and hopefully we'll get to see the Kurono tag team in action blowing up some alien butt. Can't wait until the fighting starts.

A note about the art: the giant CGed mechs don't look that good in color, but they look really awesome when they are styled into black and white manga. In black and white really brings out the details, and also in regular black and white panels you don't tend to notice the textures as much. The textures were not great in the colored version.
