Rosario + Vampire II 33

The giant monster under the castle awakens.

I hope Mr. Shuzen bought home insurance that covers destruction by supernatural beings.

Summary:
Having awakened her shinso power, Moka targets Akua and punches out a wall. Suddenly, the whole castle starts shaking and giant tentacles shoot out from the ground, destroying most of the castle. Kahlua, Kokoa and a servant manage to escape from the destruction and Kahlua remembers what Akasha had said about a shadow lying underneath the mansion. Some distance away, the Headmaster watches the scene unfold and tells his driver to get to the castle quickly in order to stop the monster.

Back at the castle, Akua gets back to her feet and wonders why Alucard awakened as soon as Moka awakened. Akua then spots Moka being caught by Alucard and having her blood sucked out of her. Akua attempts a rescue, but she is grabbed by tentacles and bitten. Suddenly, Akua is cut loose from the tentacles, and she is shocked to find that Akasha has gotten herself back to one piece. Akasha suggest that the two of them should join forces to save Moka from being absorbed by Alucard. Akasha whispers a plan that shocks Akua, but at these desperate times they decide to go along with it.

Up above, Dongfang Bubai, Tsukune and Mizore are watching the spectacle in wonder. Dongfang explains that Akasha is nearly impossible to kill if she fights seriously. It was Akasha who defeated Alucard 200 years ago, but she had sealed Alucard with her own blood and therefore their shinso blood became synchronized. If Akasha awakened, so would Alucard, so Akasha held her power back all these years, but unfortunately her shinso blood appeared to have been passed down to Moka.

 Know your place, tentacles. Know your place.

Down on the ground Akasha (having abandoned her dress and in her underwear) and Akua charge towards Moka, and giant tentacles emerge to stop them. Akua attempts to cut the tentacles but the tentacles quickly reconnect themselves. Akasha explains that the tentacles must be thoroughly destroyed, and she offers up a quick demonstration but kicking a tentacle into pieces. Akua watches in awe as Akasha pulverizes tentacle after tentacle to get to hand/altar that Moka was being held. Realizing she has to hurry, Akasha jumps towards the altar, but the altar shoots a number of spiked tentacles at her. Instead of dodging, Akasha take the tentacles head on is impaled by many of them. Akasha gets to the altar and reveals to Moka that she had given Moka a lot of her own blood to help Moka survive after a difficult childbirth. Akasha knew the consequences, but she doesn't regret it and states that Moka is her greatest treasure as she activates the rosary on Moka's neck.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's always nice to see a giant monster waking up and wreaking havoc from time to time. Rosario + Vampire is on a roll right now, and this was another excellent chapter. It turns out Akua isn't the biggest threat in this flashback, although she is primary cause of these events. Akua gets humbled in this chapter though by the awesome powers of Alucard and Akasha, and the battle between Akasha and the Alien queen Alucard was very nicely drawn as these big battles should be. I especially liked the moment where Akasha took off her dress and revealed her battle outfit/underwear. I was like "she is going to fight the big monster while wearing that?!". Having Akasha say "know your place" in the middle of the fight was a nice touch too.
This chapter revealed some of the big secrets in Moka's family. Akasha sealed Alucard with her own blood, and then passed her blood to Moka after childbirth, therefore Moka's awakening caused Alucard to awaken. Now all that's left to find out is how Akasha sealed herself within the rosary and defeated Alucard, and what happened to Akua afterwards. Everything has been building up to a big ending and I'm looking forward to the conclusions of this flashback dream sequence.
