That is one cute kitten.
Summary:
It's getting closer to the summer, and Hikari and Futaba continue their training by going out on a jog. During the jog, the two friends run are joined by a guy with an afro, and on the guy's head is Cha, the unofficial feline consultant of the diving club. Hikari and Futaba always thought Cha was a stray cat that hanged around the school, so they are surprised to learn that Cha has an owner and is actually named Aria.
Is it just me, or has Cha (the cat Hikari is holding) gotten smaller?
After parting with Cha/Aria and his owner, Hikari and Futaba take a break at the part and the spot a kitten being harassed by a crow. The two friends chase away the crow and pick up the kitten which happens to be dastardly cute. Realizing that the kitten is hungry and might be abandoned, Futaba and Hikari decide to take the kitten back to school and feed it some milk. At the school nurse's room, Futaba and Hikari are having fun with the kitten when Katori-sensei brings them back to reality by asking if they are going to take in the kitten. Futaba's apartment doesn't allow pets, and Hikari's mom is allergic to cats. Even though they can't keep the kitten, Hikari and Futaba don't want to abandon the kitten and come up with a plan to find the kitten a new home. Katori-sensei comments that Hikari and Futaba have become quite the pair, and the two girls state that they'll do their best because the kitten is their friend too. Suddenly, Cha/Aria and his owner appear from one of the beds in the room, and Hikari and Futaba are surprised when Katori-sensei identifies the man as the school principal. While Katori and the principal are chatting, Cha/Aria starts playing around with the kitten. Seeing the scene, the principal agrees to take in the female kitten as Cha/Aria's playmate and future bride. Hikari and Futaba are embarrassed by the mention of "bride", but they are also very happy that the kitten has a home.

A chapter about cats. Of course, this is not surprising given Amano-sensei's passion for felines. I'm still waiting for the chapter where the characters do some diving, but cute kitties are appreciated too. There are a few references to Aria in this chapter (or at least I think there were), with Cha being named Aria and the parallels between Cha/the kitten and President Aria/Maa in Aria. I'm not sure if the cats will play as big of role in Amanchu! as in Aria, but I'm sure we'll see plenty of Cha/Aria and the kitten in this series.
Talking about the cats, hopefully Hikari and principal can agree on what to call Cha/Aria. For now, I'll refer to him as Cha. I noticed that Cha have grown smaller since we first saw him. Take a look at the second image in my chapter 4 post and compare to Cha's size in this chapter. It's probably a size inconsistency issue in the art. Now that I think about it, President Aria's size was inconsistent at the start of Aria too.
Overall this was a cute chapter. Still no diving though, but I think we are getting closer as it should be summer in the next chapter. Hopefully the diving will start then.
On a somewhat unrelated note, here is cover for this edition of Monthly Comic Blade featuring someone from Amanchu!. I suspect this is Futaba but it doesn't quite look like her. The problem with Futaba is that she has so many hairstyles that it's hard to recognize her using the hair. The two bow ties on her hair is what threw me off.
