Motto To Love-Ru 02

Rito and Haruna have a good naked time together; Rito pretends to be his dad for a home interview with Mikan's teacher; and Lala and Mikan invites Yami and Haruna over to spend the night at Rito's house.

At least they know to use dark censor stripes in dark environments.

Part 1 summary:
At school, Lala's cellphone malfunctions and teleports a bunch of her inventions into the hallway. As the always vigilant Yui demands Lala clean up the mess, Oshizu checks out the teleportation bracelet, but Rito quickly takes it away because he knows most of Lala's inventions don't work as intended. Rito is then bumped into by Haruna and suddenly the teleportation bracelet activates, whisking Rito and Haruna away but leaving their clothes behind. After realizing what happened, Yui becomes very concerned (because Rito and Haruna are together and naked) and forms a search party with Lala.

Haruna and Rito are transported into a dark room and in the darkness Rito accidentally gropes Haruna's breast and receives a punch in the face for his indiscretion. After calming down, Haruna tells Rito that she's afraid of the dark. Rito's vision is starting to adjust to the darkness which means he can see Haruna's naked body. Being a gentleman, Rito goes to retrieve some nearby sheets for he and Haruna to cover themselves, but Haruna becomes frightened by the noise and runs into Rito's arms, causing embarrassment for both of them. After calming down once again, Haruna and Rito inspect the room and realize that they are still on Earth, but the exit is locked so they'll have to wait until Lala finds them. To break up the awkward atmosphere, Rito asks Haruna about her parents, and Haruna explained that her family had lived together until her father was transferred out of town. At that point Haruna's big sister Akiho already has a job, so Haruna's parents allowed their daughters to stay in town on their own and the whole family has dinner together every so often. Rito mentions the situation with his own parents who are rarely together or at home, but he notes that despite being far apart his parents can still love and rely on each other. At this point, Haruna states it'd be great to live with someone who can be relied upon. Rito realizes this is a prime opportunity to confess, but suddenly an image of Lala fills his mind. Before Rito can confess, the door unlocks and Mikado-sensei walks into the room. It turns out Rito and Haruna were transported to the basement of Mikado-sensei's big mansion, and the alien physician comments upon Rito and Haruna's boldness much to Rito's embarrassment. Yui and Lala arrive soon after after tracking Rito's sent with Lala's robotic dog, and Yui demands that Rito and Haruna put on some clothes.

Two is a company. Three is a crowd.

I'm disappointed. I thought Lala would invent something to morph Rito into an exact physical replica of his dad.

Part 2 Summary:
Mikan's teacher wants to meet her parents for a home interview, but her parents are almost never home. It looks like meeting will have to postponed again, but Lala suggest that Rito pretend to be Mikan's dad. On the day of the interview, Rito is dressed up as Mr. Yuuki but he is very nervous. During the interview, Mikan's teacher reveals that she is a big fan of Mr. Yuuki's manga and asks for an autograph, but because he's so nervous Rito signs the autograph on the teacher's sweater (right on the chest) instead of on the manga. Lala brews up a calming concoction for Rito to drink, but it causes Rito to become really drunk and in his drunken dance Rito pulls down the teacher's shirt and Mikan's pants and thus earning some hard smacks from Mikan. Some time later at Mikan's school, Mikan's teacher encourages Mikan to stay strong (despite her messed up family).

Well, you didn't explicitly state where the autograph should go, so...

Apparently being drunk makes Rito much more flexible than usual.

Part 3 Summary:
Lala invites Haruna and Yami back home for hot pot. After dinner, Mikan and Rito insist Yami and Haruna spend the night, and the two guests agree. Later at night, Rito is in the bathtub fantasizing about Haruna when he hear the girls approaching. To fit all four girls into the bath, Lala installs a dimensional warping device on the bathroom door that turns the bath tub into a large the pool. The four girls then enter the room, prompting Rito to hide. Rito manages to get to the edge of the pool without being detected by the girls, but Peke unintentionally turns off the dimensional warping device, and the girls discover that Rito is in the bath tub with them. Yami then tries to exact her wrath on Rito while the other girls try to calm her down.

Rito you (un)lucky bastard!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's still the same "three manga chapter" format as the first episode, but this episode a bit better. That's probably because the chapters covered in this episode were funnier than the ones in the previous. The chapter where Rito pretends to his dad for the meeting was one of the funniest chapters in To Love-Ru, and the other two segments weren't bad either. I still have to get used to the censorship that the show employs. I don't remember seeing any full on nudity (nipples) in the original To Love-Ru manga (where the material for this episode came from), so the censorship still seems a bit strange to me. Can't they just cleverly cover the naughty spots like they used to? Supposedly ATX is airing a less censored version but the episodes are one week late, so I probably won't bother.
Anyways, this episode was pretty good by To Love-Ru anime standards (which means it was mildly enjoyable in usual standards). If Xebec intends to keep the three segment per episode format and stick with the manga material, than this season won't be too bad. On the downside, if Xebec really sticks to the books then I wouldn't have much to say about these episodes since I've already read the manga. I could copy my thoughts from corresponding manga posts, but that would be too lazy even for a lazy blogger like me. Hopefully Motto To Love-Ru can cover some of the multi-chapter arcs as to make an entire episode focused on the same story, although I'm not sure how many those are left given how the anime skipped over the journey to get medicine for Celine.
