You sure those aren't jellyfish?
Summary:
After reaching the float, the diving club members begin descending the rope into the depth of the sea. As Futaba descends, she becomes a little disoriented but then remembers that the bubbles always flow up. At the bottom, Katori-sensei gathers the group to go over all the basic diving skills such as clearing the mask of water and hand signs. After the drill, Futaba starts wandering around, but suddenly she notices bubbles rising up all around her (from Ai and Makoto swimming underneath). Hikari notices the bubbles too and reaches for an extra large one, and the bubble pops on contact. Hikari and Futaba spend most of the dive popping bubbles from the other club members and enjoying the view of the sea bottom filled with streams of bubbles. As quickly as it began, the dive is over and the group swim back to shore. On the beach, Hikari asks Futaba how she felt during her first dive, and Futaba responds that it was an experience that was both beautiful and fun (popping bubbles).
Later in the resting area, Futaba is sitting near the window wondering about a clapping sound nearby. She then notices Ai sitting at a desk writing something. When Futaba asks about it, Ai explains that she is keeping a diving journal, recording down all the details and the things she saw during the dive. While Futaba is fawning over Ai's journal book, Katori-sensei calls the whole group to attention. With the members of the diving club gathered up, Katori-sensei hands Futaba her C-Card, meaning Futaba is now certified to dive in the sea. Futaba is delighted to receive the card and thinks that perhaps the clapping sound she has been hearing is the ocean clapping to congratulate her. In the emotion of the moment, Futaba actually said these thoughts out loud, and this causes her, Hikari and Ai to become embarrassed. (the clapping sound is from the waves hitting the shoreline)
On the drive back home, Hikari invites Futaba to go shopping with her for little trinkets to put on their diving journals. Summer vacation is coming up soon, and that means there will a lot of things Futaba can record down in her journal.
Note: due to Amano-sensei having health problems, there will be no new chapters until the October issue of Comic Blade (early September release).

The chapter we've been waiting for since the start is here. Futaba finally completes her first ocean dive and gets her C-Card. The dive was a cute little adventure, but I was hoping there would be more than just bubble popping. Doesn't Osezaki have some curious looking sea life? There wasn't much in the form of wildlife in this chapter, although some of the bubbles did look jellyfishes. there just wasn't as much scenery porn has I had hoped. In comparison, the scene where Futaba received her C-Card was more fulfilling. There was the emotional payoff, and Futaba letting out that thought of hers added a touch of comedy.
Overall it was a decent chapter. I was probably expecting a little too much from Futaba's first dive. It was Futaba's first ocean dive, so I guess it made sense if she didn't anything really fun, but it certainly took long enough to get to this point. Hopefully there will be plenty of other adventures in the next few chapters when the characters go on summer vacation. Unfortunately, the next chapter is three months away due to Amano-sensei having health problems. Hopefully she will get well soon as well.
