Al chats with Hohenheim in Lior; Bido runs into the new Greed; and Ed and chimeras escape from pursuing soldiers.
Summary:
Al's group bumps into Hohenheim in Lior. Al and Hohenheim initially don't know what to say to each other, so instead the father and son, along with the chimeras and Yoki start helping with the reconstruction. Meanwhile, Winry chats with Rose in Rose's apartment, and Rose recalls how Ed and Al overthrew Father Cornello. Even though Lior went through a period of unrest, Rose is still thankful that Ed and Al had came through the city to expose Cornello. Back outside, Al and Hohenheim finally start talking. Hohenheim reveals his past to Al and is impressed by what Ed an Al has found out so far about Father's plans. Al wants to destroy the giant transmutation underneath the country, but Hohenheim states that it's no use since Pride is guarding the tunnels. Hohenheim then tells Al to look towards the sun god statue and states that Father is waiting for a certain special date.
In a northern city, Darius uses Ed's pocket watch to take out some cash from Ed's bank account. Ed and the chimeras are hiding in an old doctor couple's clinic, and the cash is to pay for the medical treatment and to keep the old couple's mouths shut. Unfortunately, Darius' bank visit alerts the soldiers to Ed's whereabouts. The soldiers barge into the doctors' clinic but only finds Darius and Heinkel. As the soldiers question Darius and Heinkel, Ed returns with food and groceries and he proceeds to knock out all the soldiers. Ed and his chimera buddies leave the clinic but is confronted by more soldiers. Since the soldiers don't recognize Ed, Darius and Heinkel pretends to kidnap Ed in order to get out of the building. Once outside, Ed and the chimeras engage in a car chase with the soldiers, but Ed manages to throw off the pursuers by transmuting the car into another model. After driving out of the city, Ed and the chimeras stop to plan out what to do next. Realizing that he needs information, Ed then wonders where Al would had to.
In Central, Bido somehow stumbles into the secret room with the puppet soldiers, but he is forced to hide when Olivier and the Central officer arrives. Olivier inspects the puppet soldiers and wonders where Central will get the souls to power them, and the officer explains that the souls will come from Armestris' enemies. Meanwhile, Bido scrambles his way into one of the underground tunnels but runs into the new Greed. Greed, in charge of guarding the tunnel underneath Central, chases Bido around and finally corners the chimera. Bido recognizes Greed's powers but wonders why Greed looks different, while the new Greed states that he doesn't remember who Bido is. Greed eventually kills Bido, but suddenly he starts remembering things from Dublith. Ling's soul joins in and encourages Greed to remember his past, and Greed is overwhelmed by the flood of memories from his old self.
In the Fuhrer's residence, King Bradley, Mrs. Bradley and Selim are going about their usual business when Greed suddenly barges in. Greed charges at Bradley who blocks Greed off with his sword.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was one of those transitional episodes, but there were plenty of interesting developments and a bit of comedic action to boot. First of all, Ed is finally back after almost dying three episodes ago, and he looks like he is almost healed and ready for action. His sense of style is still as amusing as ever as seem by the purple Triceratop-mobile. Darius and Heinkel are officially Ed's buddies now, and they are quite amusing as well, having the wits to hold Ed hostage in order to leave the buildings.
Moving to Lior, Al reconnects with Hohenheim and learns a few things. Unlike Ed, Al isn't really hostile towards Hohenheim since he probably doesn't remember Hohenheim that well. There were still some awkward moments between Al and Hohenheim, but father and son managed to talk when they got down to the serious business of saving the country. Apparently the reason why Hohenheim is hanging around Lior and not doing much is because he knows Father is waiting for a special date, but wouldn't it be better to work on stopping Father before that special date arrives? Not according to shounen logic lol. The final showdown has to happen, and we can't have the good guys stopping it in advance. However, Hohenheim still seems too relaxed for a situation where the fate of the country is hanging in the balance.
The final big development is the reawakening of Greed who regains the memories of his previous life. This is probably the biggest development in this episode, because this means Greed is no longer in Father's camp. Consequently, Greed will also be more inclined to listen to Ling, and Ling will get his chances to retake the body. As expected, the first person Greed goes after is Wrath. Last time Greed was beaten badly because he wasn't ready for Wrath, but this time is different. We'll see how far this confrontation will go.
On a somewhat off-topic note, FMA:B has finally reached the point in the story (chapter 82) where I first started writing summaries for the manga. I was hoping that I could copy and paste my old summaries, but this episode jammed several chapters into one, so no copy-pasta just yet.
