To Love-Ru Darkness 03

Mea tries to learn more about Rito.

In some ways this is a 100% correct assessment of Rito.

Summary:
At school, Nana chats with Mea while Yami looks at them from her desk. After learning that Mea also has the transformation ability, Yami wonders who is Mea's boss as the organization Yami came from was supposedly destroyed by another assassin (hinted to be Kuro). A group of guys try to talk to Yami, but Yami waves at them to go away. Yami is then approached by Momo who offers to help Yami, but Yami is still cautious and cold towards Momo. As Yami is talking with Momo, Nana and Mea start looking at them. Nana tells Mea that Momo may pretend to be a good girl on the surface, in reality Momo is a scheming and mischievous girl. Mea comments that it's great that Nana knows her sister so well and then asks Nana about Rito. Nana puts it bluntly that Rito is huge pervert and she doesn't understand why Momo and Lala are infatuated with him. Nana does admit that Rito exhibits moments of kindness, but most of the time he is a pervert.

After getting Nana's assessment of Rito, Mea decides to scout Rito out herself. Mea goes to Rito's class and learns from Haruna that Rito went to the roof. On the rooftop, Mea finds Rito taking a nap and she decides to encroach into his dream to get information.

You have to admit: Rito is a girl magnet, even when he's asleep.

Meanwhile, Momo visits Mikado-sensei who is taking care of Celine for her. Momo asks Mikado about Yami as the two have known each other for a while, and Mikado states that Yami isn't used to living a normal life and interacting with others, so she asks Momo to help Yami out. In the outdoor area of the school, Yui spots Yami sitting alone on a bench looking a little down. When asked by Yui, Yami states that she is confused about her feelings. Yui tells Yami that she feels the same way and advises Yami not to be too bothered by it. At the moment, Nana shows up and asks Yami and Yui if they know where Mea went.

Back on the rooftop, Mea taps into Rito's dream. In the dream, both Rito and Mea find themselves naked together in a bath tub. Rito is surprised that a naked stranger is in his dream, but Mea is eager to get closer to learn more about Rito. Combing through Rito's dream world, Mea learns about Momo's harem plan and the part about adding Yami to the harem (along with dream scenes of Rito, Momo and Yami doing very naughty things), but she is then forced to sever the link when Yami appears in the real world to confront her. Yami forces Mea to get off Rito and warns Mea to keep her hands off of the still sleeping Rito, and Mea promises that she won't steal Yami's prey and leaves. On her way back to the class, Mea notes that Momo's plan is the exact opposite of her master's plan, and she wonders which plan will succeed.

Yami reestablishes her claim on Rito.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before a translation came out for the chapter, I saw the provocative pages from the chapter which looked like borderline hentai, but it turns out it was just a dream sequence. Still, Darkness is definitely pushing the envelope of how much sexually-related content can be shown in a "shounen" magazine (which Jump Square supposedly is). Nana is quite right about Rito being a pervert though. Even his dreams are extremely perverted.
Other than the naughty stuff, the story of Darkness continues to develop, and I'm liking the continuity in the chapters as opposed to the standalone stories from the original To Love. The tones between the two series are different despite having mostly the same cast. For the moment it doesn't look like Mea is going to try and kill Rito herself, but she will be working opposite to Momo and try to influence Yami into killing Rito. There probably won't be any out right battles for a while, but it should be fun seeing Momo and Mea trying to pull Yami in opposite directions with subtle or not-too-subtle tactics. Mea has the advantage right now because she knows what Momo is up to, while Momo doesn't yet know that Mea is working against her, but I'm sure Mea can't keep her identity secret from the other characters forever.
Lastly, there was a little more about Yami's background shown in this chapter. Looks like Kuro (the Train clone) might make a return in this series as it's hinted that he took out the organization that created Yami. It would be good if we can get some Black Cat-like action in Darkness somewhere down the road.
